Destin 2011

Last week we were in Destin, Florida for our 2nd annual family trip.  We had so much fun but let me tell you, traveling with a 5 month old is definitely a different experience.  Now, instead of packing my bag the night before, I'm packing the week before.  Now, I'm pulling out toys to entertain Alyssa instead of a book to read while on the plane.  Now, instead of one bag of luggage we have 7 between the three of us.  Welcome to parenthood I guess!!

With all that said, once we finally made it to the condo, we had such a great time.  All that worrying over how the flight would go was for nothing, Alyssa did great.  Thank you mom and dad for making these trips possible!!  We had so much fun and look foward to our next family vacation.

Fun in the Sun

A couple of weekends ago our friends Jenny and Travis were nice enough to invite us over for a swim in their pool.  We were able to test out Alyssa's float for the first time and I think we're ready for our upcoming family trip to Destin, Florida.  I was glad to see that Alyssa will be big enough to sit in her float, with dad close by.  Here are a few pictures...

Four Month Pictures

Jimmy and I took Alyssa to get her 4 month pictures done this past Saturday.  We're going to TRY and take her in for pictures every couple of months.  My mom did that with my brothers and I and then gave each of us an album to keep.  It was fun to get my album down and compare my four month picture to Alyssa's.  I still think she looks more like daddy!  Here are a few of our favorite pictures...

  

Kenyon's Birthday Party

Here's Alyssa sporting her red, white and blue outfit at Kenyon's surprise birthday party. Kenyon (brother-in-law) was born on the 4th of July.

Four-Month Pediatrician Appointment

Our little Alyssa will be 4 months old this Friday!  We had the 4 month appointment yesterday in which our baby girl had to get 4 shots and one liquid vaccination.  Alyssa weighed in at 12lbs 5ozs which puts her in the 20th percentile for weight and measured 24 3/4 inches which has her in the 75th percentile for height.  She is already growing up so fast.  The pediatrician also told us at the visit that we can start solid food.  We will be heading to the store this weekend to pick up rice cereal.

Jimmy and I thought we'd let Alyssa try her bouncer out even though her toes barely touch the ground.  She likes it for about five minutes and then wants out quickly.  Here's a video of her falling asleep in it.

Rappelling

I wanted to post some pictures of the exciting event Kristin was part of this past Friday.  She participated in "Over the Edge" in Downtown Fort Worth where around 40 people got to  rappel down the 26-story XTO building.  Kristin's boss at UBS paid for 4 of her employees to take part in this event that benefitted Downtown.  Kristin was definitely nervous the days leading up but I was shocked to see she went through with it.

Father's Day

I had a great first Father's Day!! After being out of town for work the past week, it was great to be back home and see Kristin and Alyssa.  I took off Friday and Alyssa and I spent the entire day together and went to meet mommy for lunch.  For my first Father's Day, Alyssa got me a mouse pad for work with all of her cute pictures.  Mommy also watched Alyssa Sunday morning while daddy went and played golf with Kristin's dad and brothers.  We ended the weekend having dinner with Kristin's family at her parent's house.  It was a fun-filled day.

Below are some pictures from the past weekend.  We actually caught Alyssa's first laugh in one of the pictures.  She has been smiling alot lately but today was the first time she has laughed.  We kept trying to get her to laugh again but once is all we could get.

Memorial Weekend

We had a great Memorial Weekend! For the first part of the long weekend, we headed out to Possum Kingdom to spend time with our friends and Alyssa got to play with her friend Kaden.  The Wessel family bought Alyssa and Kaden a kiddie pool to play in but Alyssa was not to sure about it while Kaden was splashing away.  After Alyssa's long swim, she was ready for a nap in mommy's lap.  We finished up the weekend by running lots of errands before I have to return to work tomorrow.  It will be hard to go back but it will be great having grandma watch her.  Grandma and Alyssa will definitely be meeting me for lunch often.
